Tips for Making Truffles
Here are a few tips to help you make the perfect truffles:
- Use good quality chocolate. This will make a big difference in the taste and texture of your truffles. You can certainly find good chocolate at the grocery store, but look for brands you know have a good flavor.
- Be careful not to overheat the chocolate. Chocolate can burn easily, so be sure to melt it slowly and carefully. If you overheat it, the chocolate will freeze-up and be hard to stir - this is your sign to add a little coconut oil or olive oil (try a teaspoon at a time) and stir until the chocolate de-solidifies and becomes a nice melty liquid again.
- When you're dipping the truffles into the melted chocolate, tap off any excess before placing them on a baking sheet to set. This will limit waste, but will also help the bottom of the truffles be round and pretty instead of a chocolate mess.
- Let the truffles set in the fridge for at least an hour before serving. This will help them to firm up and taste their best. I prefer to eat them chilled, but if you let them set in the fridge for an hour, even if served at room temperature, the chocolate and filling will be firm.
How Do You Melt Chocolate?
There are a few different ways that you can melt chocolate. The most important thing is to make sure that the chocolate is melted slowly so that it doesn't burn.
One way to melt chocolate is to place it in a bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Make sure that the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water. Stir the chocolate occasionally until it's melted.
Another way to melt chocolate is to place it in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave it on 50% power for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each interval, until the chocolate is melted.
Once the chocolate is melted, you can start dipping your truffles!
How Do You Store No-Bake Funfetti Truffles
These funfetti truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. They can also be frozen for up to two months. Just be sure to thaw them overnight in the fridge before you plan on serving them.
